Background Description / Mission Statement
In 1998, a non-government organization called the "Information Network for Foundation and NPOs" came into existence in response to calls for the establishment of an NPO network by leading professionals and experts from the Chinese Youth Development Foundation, the China Charity Federation, and other well-known NPOs. As a service provider for Chinese NPOs, it has established a platform for cooperation among Chinese nonprofit organizations by organizing forums and training courses, and building networks. It also devotes itself to the promotion of NPO legislation development in China. In 2001, the organization was officially registered and renamed the China NPO Network (CNPON), with the aim to becoming one of the key organizations supporting nonprofit organizations in China.
CSR Activities in China
CSR activities include:

- In February 2006, CNPON hosted the China Development Marketplace (DM) Forum in the Beijing International Convention Center. The event was sponsored by the World Bank, attracted a large number of experts, including 100 representatives of development marketplace projects, to discuss and exchange views on China's construction of a civilized society, the planning and funding of public benefit programs, corporate cooperation, and other issues

- The NPO Forum, which was initiated in 2001 by CNPON, has attracted much attention and support from nonprofit organizations. In response to diverse development trends, the NPO Forum provided activities such as the NPO Credit Forum and the NPO Lecture and Round Table Conference to cater to the emerging needs of NPO organizations and to enhance and expand their social influence. Up to now, the NPO Forum has organized dozens of activities with a total of about 1,000 participants

- The NPO Leaders’ Salon, covers activities in the area of philanthropy, and attracts a large number of celebrities, leaders, experts, and their family members. The salon aims to establish a non-official communication platform for NPO leaders. Every session of the salon features a keynote lecture with comment by special guests followed by free discussion. The salon is held once every quarter

- The Youth Internship Microfund Program, initiated by CNPON and its community partners, aims to encourage young people to intern with NGOs engaged in rural development and environmental protection by offering microfunding. The program strives to establish a public platform for all NGOs to participate in the training of the younger generation. In the program, CNPON functions as a supporter for other NPOs instead of offering services directly for the internship volunteers. CNPON supports other NPOs through the means of providing microfunds, technological support, and a communication platform
